I'm Tom Roe President of a publishing and rare book company and also the co-founder of obamasockpuppet.com. Please allow me to explain in writing how I become so energized about this fellow. Curious by nature, I like to learn a little background about people and events if they seem important. Basically I like to have some idea of subjects that I may express an opinion on before I start opening my big mouth. When Obama cropped up in Iowa I really didn't know much about him. I think that would fit many of people. Watching the hype and drama between Obama and the Clinton's I spent some time checking out the Chicago media archives about Obama, NOI, Wright (never heard of him before) and Obama's beginnings in politics. It didn't take long to find stories about the people who recruited him to do the community organizing on the South Side. I'm not to fond of these left wing radicals but they are usually just a nuisance without influence. I consider right-wing radicals to be exactly the same. More or less harmless as long as they stay in their physical and mental compounds in the desert. Of course I know something about the NOI. In the 80's I used to buy the "Final Call "once in awhile for a dollar just to see what this group was about. It isn't good. obamasockpuppet.com is a product like any other. He has made a career of fronting and facilitating for people and organizations who are self-aware enough to know that they need him. Please ask yourself; who is this guy and what do we know about him beyond the current story? Read the interviews with the people who hired him (yes, it was a paying job) to organize on the South Side of Chicago. It is impossible to "organize" even a hot dog stand in that place without some cooperation from Wright, NOI, and others. Obama is on the verge of becoming the most successful packaging job in the history of merchandising. I believe this completely. I understand that all politicians are packaged to some degree. This is normal. In most cases we can understand the general ideas and perhaps interest groups which the packaged politician represents. Between a Republican and a Clinton it is a matter of degree. Sometimes it is a matter of disagree. Either way we can usually find common ground to proceed from once the contest is decided. This is the essence of our political system and a source of it's strength. Should obamasockpuppet.com be elected the country will continue and the sun will come up the next day. This is not about playing Chicken Little and scaring the crap out of people. This is about questions that we all have to face in life. Under what conditions should I prosper? An obamasockpuppet.com triumph sends the wrong message. It says that you can remain completely silent at best and complicit at worst while your benefactors spread hate, lies, and resentment. The purpose of obamasockpuppet.com is to shine light. It has a point of view honestly derived but is really about encouraging others to ask simple questions. That these questions are raised is controversial only because the answers are themselves controversial.
